In Sir Terry Pratchett‘s novel ‘Going Postal‘ The clacks were created and a lovely memorial to loved ones was invented. Namely Sending Home. By using the Clacks code GNU as broken down below; a departed loved ones name was sent back and forth through the overhead for all eternity.
This inspired us to come up with the GNU directory. Allowing any STP fans to send their loved one home through the overhead. Creating a singular place for their names to be spoken for all time.

Message Should Be Turned Around At The End Of The Line
It is with deep regret that we must inform our valued visitors and contributors that we can no longer offer a home to the famous GNU section of our site. This decision has been forced upon us due to the actions of certain online image suppliers, whose despicable, underhanded, and frankly extortionate behaviour has left us no choice. These suppliers have made it their practice to threaten many with legal action unless they pay exorbitant fees for hosting images that they believe to be under free-use licenses. And now they have taken to attacking us, a not for profit website that merely wants to show our love and respect for all those who have passed over the black sands.
We have always aimed to provide a platform where users could freely share GNU’s and their images, contributing to a community that values openness and collaboration. Unfortunately, we are now being targeted with demands that far exceed reasonable fees. The threat of ongoing legal action, combined with these excessive financial demands, has become unsustainable for our platform.
As has always been the case, we can only host GNU images if you, as the contributor, hold the copyright or intellectual property rights to the material. While we will continue to display such images, we must emphasise that it is your responsibility to ensure you have the rights to share them. We cannot and will not verify ownership on your behalf, and we will no longer accept liability for any potential disputes over intellectual property.
This has been a difficult decision, but we cannot allow ourselves to be continuously extorted by these predatory suppliers. We thank our community for their understanding and continued support as we adjust to these new circumstances. Your contributions have always been the heart of our platform, which is provided for free as a testament to STP and to allow us to honour our loved ones and keep their names alive in the ether for all eternity. We aim to continue this project while safeguarding our site from future threats.
